Data Migration & Integration Specialist | Defence & Manufacturing
I solve data problems that other people cannot fix. 17 years at Thales, plus Boeing, Siemens, EDF, and Lloyds — I deliver complex PLM migrations, ETL systems, and process automation across defence, manufacturing, and regulated industries.
About
Pragmatic, hands‑on consultant combining deep technical expertise with clear stakeholder communication.
Profile
I have spent 30 years solving the data problems that slow projects down and keep teams working manually when they should not be. The last 17 of those years were at Thales — first as an employee, then as a contractor — delivering migrations, integrations, and automation for some of the UK's largest defence and manufacturing organisations.
I work across the full project lifecycle: workshops and mapping through to build, testing, and handover. I have done this at Boeing, Siemens, EDF, Lloyds Banking Group, and Rolls-Royce, as well as Thales. I am hands-on from day one and I do not disappear after the design phase.
Highlights
- Led a 5-year PLM migration at Thales, consolidating 9 business units into a single UK Windchill instance
- Delivered PLM migration from SAP to Teamcenter for Siemens eMobility
- Built a metadata-driven ETL framework at Boeing Defense UK migrating a legacy drawing repository to Teamcenter Enterprise
- Cut manual processing at FCA from 2 man-days per week to 3 hours by automating user access list imports
- Built a Smart Metering data mart at EDF Energy, capturing data from SAP, Oracle, and multiple external sources
- Built a parts ordering system at Thales integrated with the ERP system, saving an estimated £25,000 per year

Approach
How I Work
I run a short discovery phase first. That means mapping workshops, documented data analysis, and a clear migration or integration plan before any build starts. You know what you are getting and when.
From there I build automated, repeatable pipelines — not one-off scripts that only I can maintain. Data quality is tracked from day one, not checked at the end. Every project is handed over with documentation that your team can actually use.
I have worked in defence and manufacturing long enough to understand the constraints: SC clearance requirements, legacy systems with no documentation, stakeholders who need plain English not technical jargon. I am used to all of it.
Outcomes
- Reduced manual effort and errors
- Auditable migrations & sign‑off artefacts
- Maintainable frameworks for future loads
- On‑time, on‑budget delivery
